Skylight replacement.

★ 5.0 from 158 reviewsLicensed & insuredCalls 24/7

A skylight is a hole in your roof on purpose, which makes it the first place water finds. When the leaks keep coming back, Joe replaces the skylight and rebuilds the roof around it so it's sealed the right way.

Is this what you need?

Drips or stains around the frame

Water spots on the ceiling right around the skylight usually mean the flashing or seal has failed.

Fogged or cracked glass

Condensation between the panes or a cracked dome means the unit is done.

Getting a new roof anyway

If the roof is being replaced, it's the right time to swap an old skylight. Several of Joe's customers did both at once.

How Joe's crew does it

Step by step.

In Joe's own words from his job posts. Read Joe's post

  1. Open up around it

The old roofing comes off around the skylight, or the whole roof if it is being replaced.

  2. New skylight in

The old unit comes out and the new skylight is set on a solid curb.

  3. Ice & water shield

Ice & water shield goes all around the skylight for extra protection, then new underlayment.

  4. Roof back on

Shingles or flat roofing go back around it, with drip edge, ridge vent and ridge cap on shingle roofs.

Questions

Can you fix a leaking skylight without replacing it?

Sometimes. If the unit is fine and only the flashing failed, it can be resealed. If the glass is fogged or cracked, or it has leaked for years, replacing it is the lasting fix.

Do you do skylights on flat roofs and shingle roofs?

Yes. Joe's jobs include both: skylight curbs in torch-down flat roofs and skylights in new shingle roofs.

Should I replace my skylight when I get a new roof?

If it's older, usually yes. It's cheaper to do it while the roof is open than to tear into a brand-new roof later.

Is the estimate free?

Yes. Call or text (267) 993-3571.
